but now this
"The success of the industry in Lebanon last week prompted a Lebanese bank to put up billboards across the country to announce that they would be giving loans for plastic surgery.
The billboards are posted all over the capital, even in Beirut’s southern suburbs, a hotbed of the Islamist Hezbollah movement.
First National Bank’s “Plastic Surgery Loan” can provide between 1,000 and 5,000 dollars to cover “all your plastic surgery operations,” according to the bank’s website"
Oh dear lord.
New Boobs all round!
This is a much better image and part of the reason I love them....

Style in the face of adversity
(now I know this sounds ill informed and trite, but ......)

looks to me more like cash in the face of adversity, darlin'. and the lebanese girls 'round here don't wear fabulous shoes and tight tops. they be wearing the hijab.
but i know exactly the girls you mean. i think in melbourne this is more broadly known as the "hot wog chick" look - encompassing the sexy mamas of mediterranean, middle eastern and even northern african ancestry.
but about the free money for fake boobs - quelle horreur!
yes, some of the modern-day Lebanese mentality is messed, but it's really not necessary to generalize. I'm a 22 year old Lebanese chick born and raised in Canada and who's proud of her nationality. I don't follow the materialistic stereotype people have of Lebanese women and so comments like this piss me off a little. You probably mean no harm, I'm just saying we're not all fake noses and dyed hair. Just be a little more open minded and think about why their society has turned to this. Maybe its a way of dealing with the shit my family sees there every day.
to mskp: maybe in melbourne, dude.
but in lebanon girls with and without a lot of money make their style work. and they are almost ALL wearing super tight tops and tight jeans and awesome heels.
love the blog post-- only lebanese girls can strut down a street that's half destroyed with class and confidence.
and most rock their natural hair color, fyi.
